Fastest Mustang GT Ever Beats 4-Second 0-to-60 Time

The 2018 Mustang GT will be scorching into Stearns Ford this fall, tires still freshly smoking. It's the fastest Mustang GT powered by a V8 engine ever available, at least without modifications. Straight out of the box, it is capable of acceleration to take it from a standstill to 60 mph in under 4 seconds.

This is made possible by its newly redesigned 5.0-liter V8, which now offers 460 horsepower and a muscular 420 pound-feet torque, and its all-new 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission.

The new transmission is geared to deliver more power during acceleration, with precise shifting that doesn't cause a torque drop like typical gear shifts. Drag Strip mode, one of five selectable driving modes, works with the new transmission to boost acceleration even further during launch.

On the drag strip, having good tires makes as much difference as having a powerful engine. The 2018 Mustang GT is now available with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires for maximum grip on the track, and comes standard with electronic line-lock to easily warm them up before a race (or smoke them out for fun, if you're a rebel).
